The second-generation Jaguar XF Sportbrake has been unveiled, and will go on sale later this year.

With a generous number of teasers and spy photos in the lead up to today’s reveal, the design of the XF Sportbrake shouldn’t be a surprise.

Thanks to its enlarged rear section, the XF wagon is capable of carrying 565 litres worth of gear with the seats up, and 1700L when the rear seats are folded down.

Using the aluminium architecture from the XE and XF sedans, the Sportbrake is said to weigh just 1660 kilograms and have a 50:50 front-to-rear weight balance.

The wagon will offered with four diesel options: a 2.0-litre Ingenium four-cylinder turbo-diesel in either`120kW/380Nm, 132kW/430Nm and 177kW/500Nm trims, and a 221kW/700Nm 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6.

On the petrol side of the ledger, the load hauling XF will be available with a 184kW/365Nm 2.0-litre Ingenium turbocharged four-cylinder engine, or a 280kW/450Nm 3.0-litre supercharged V6.

The supercharged V6 will only be sold in China, the USA, and the Middle East.

An eight-speed automatic is standard on all variants, except the base-level diesel, which is also available with a six-speed manual.

All-wheel drive will be offered as an option in selected markets with the 132kW diesel and 184kW petrol engines, and is standard on the 177kW diesel and 3.0-litre supercharged V6.

Standard items include a self-levelling air-sprung rear suspension setup, and electric power steering.

Available features include adaptive damping, 320L luggage box for the roof, Activity Key wristband, cabin air ioniser, 40/20/40 split-fold rear seats, gesture operated tailgate, panoramic roof with a gesture controlled sun blind, configurable interior mood lighting, and 12.3-inch instrumentation display.

The top-shelf infotainment system includes a 10-inch dual view touchscreen, Touch Pro navigation, and a 825W Meridian surround sound system with 17 speakers.

As far as driver assistance goes, the XF Sportbrake is available with autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assistance, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, driver fatigue monitoring, active cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and semi-automated parking.
