The facelifted 2018 Maserati GranTurismo has been unveiled in New York this week, ahead of an Australian introduction in 2018.

Headlining the relatively subtle changes is a revised nose, which now sports a larger hexagonal grille inspired by the Alfieri concept, new lower air ducts which help reduce aerodynamic drag from 0.33 to 0.32, and a revised rear bumper.

For the new model year, the range has been revised to include the entry-level Sport and top-shelf MC (pictured) variants.

Under the bonnet of both variants is a revised version of the 4.7-litre V8 co-developed with Ferrari, developing up to 343kW of power and 520Nm of torque in MC tune.

Both the GranTurismo Sport and GranTurismo MC are equipped with a six-speed ZF automatic transmission as standard, with drive sent to the rear wheels.

In terms of performance, the Sport accelerates from 0-100km/h in an unchanged 4.8 seconds over last year’s equivalent, while the lighter MC is marginally quicker at 4.7 seconds.

Top speeds for both variants is rated at 299km/h and 301km/h respectively.

While no images of the updated rear and the interior are available at the moment, the 2018 GranTurismo scores a new 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a Harman/Kardon premium sound system, and a redesigned centre console with a double rotary dial for the infotainment system, finished in forged aluminium.

Maserati says the button cluster for the GranTurismo’s selectable driving modes has been repositioned on the lower centre console, next to the vehicle’s gear shifter.

Australia

The 2018 Maserati GranTurismo range will hit Australian and New Zealand showrooms in early-2018, with pricing and specifications to be confirmed around the same time.

Stay tuned for more images of the facelifted sports car when they become available.
