2015 Land Rover Defender recalled for brake fix

Land Rover has issued a recall for 124 of its 2015-build Defender off-roaders over concerns a faulty repair for a previous recall could cause a brake fluid leak.

The British manufacturer reports that the front brake pipe from the caliper to the flexible brake hose could be showing signs of chafing as a result of work completed for a previous recall.

If the condition occurs, it could cause a loss of brake fluid, resulting in a red warning triangle in the instrument cluster. A fluid leak will also result in extended brake pedal travel and reduced braking performance.

Land Rover says drivers will experience an increase in stopping distance, along with a compromise in vehicle stability – which could increase the risk of an accident.

Affected vehicles fall within the VIN range SALLDWBR8FA461900 to SALLDHRP7FA465615.

Owners of the recalled Defenders will be contacted directly by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Australia, and will be requested to contact their local dealer to arrange the inspection and repair of their vehicle.
