2018 Jaguar XF Sportbrake: Local pricing announced for November launch

Australian pricing and initial details for the 2018 Jaguar XF Sportbrake range have been revealed ahead of its local launch on November 1, with the new luxury wagon priced from $90,400 before on-road costs.

Four versions of the XF Sportbrake will be offered, which includes three different engine choices – one petrol and two diesels.

Headlining features for the wagon include a 565-litre boot with the rear seats in place – expanding to 1700L with the second row folded – and a tow rating of up to 2000kg depending on engine variant.

The optional panoramic sunroof introduces a blind which can be opened or closed using gesture control, while the tailgate can also be controlled via gesture.

Other features include self-levelling rear Integral-Link air suspension, along with cabin air filtration and ionisation.

Kicking off the range is the R-Sport 20d ($90,400), powered by the company’s 132kW/430Nm 2.0-litre ‘Ingenium‘ turbo-diesel engine – significantly undercutting the BMW 520d Touring which starts at $99,900 plus on-roads.

The diesel wagon can sprint from 0-100km/h in 8.8 seconds, while using just 4.8L/100km on the European combined cycle.

Next is the R-Sport 25t, which swaps out the oiler for a more potent 184kW/365Nm 2.0-litre ‘Ingenium’ turbocharged petrol engine, starting slightly higher at $91,400 before on-road costs.

With the petrol engine, the XF Sportbrake sprints from 0-100km/h in 7.1 seconds on its way to a top speed of 241km/h. Fuel use is rated at 6.8L/100km on the combined cycle.

Sitting atop the core range is the S 30d ($123,450), which features a 221kW/700Nm 3.0-litre twin-turbo-diesel, and can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 6.6 seconds. Meanwhile, fuel use is rated at 7.0L/100km.

Finally, the S First Edition 30d sits atop the range, starting at $137,300, powered by the same 3.0-litre twin-turbo oiler. While exact details of what the First Edition gets over its regular counterparts is yet to be confirmed, buyers will be offered the choice of an exclusive Farallon Black exterior paint option.

All engines are paired exclusively to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, driving the rear wheels. Specifications for R-Sport and S variants are expected to largely mirror that of the equivalent XF sedan, though the wagons carry a circa-$2000 premium.
