2018 Kia Stinger pricing revealed

The much-anticipated 2018 Kia Stinger will start below $50,000 when it goes on sale in October this year.

The all-new five-door rear-drive Kia Stinger, which is powered by a 3.3-litre bi-turbo V6 petrol engine with 272kW of power and 510Nm of torque, will be offered in three trim grades – the entry-level S priced from $48,990 (all prices plus on-road costs), the mid-range Si from $55,990 and the flagship GT, which slips under the $60K mark at $59,990.

According to a release from Kia‘s local team, that allows the Stinger to bring “the style, the refinement and the power usually available only to owners with substantially deeper pockets”.

Indeed, it seems a good price considering the performance credentials of the all-new model. The Stinger will sprint from 0-100km/h in just 4.9 seconds thanks to its launch-control system, while Kia claims a “a low 13 second standing quarter”.

 

“It was critical for us to bring this car to as wide an audience as possible,” said Kia’s local chief operating officer, Damien Meredith. “From the outset it was a goal to get a bi-turbo V6 into the market under $50,000. We have done that with room to spare.”

And that’s just the start. The 3.3-litre V6 bi-turbo model will form the upper end of the Stinger pricing strategy, with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder variant to also be offered. Kia is yet to confirm that pricing, but it will, presumably, be similarly sharp.

 

“Almost all of the confirmed orders are for the 3.3-litre, so it makes sense to provide those customers with as much clarity as we can while they wait to take possession of their new cars,” Meredith said.
