2018 Skoda Kodiaq 140TDI flagship model added

A new range-topping diesel model in the Skoda Kodiaq range has been added, in the form of the 140TDI variant. But it won’t be in dealerships for a few months yet.

Sitting above the existing 132TSI petrol variant, the $48,990 (plus on-road costs) 2018 Skoda Kodiaq 140TDI model brings a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine producing – you guessed it – 140kW of power and 400Nm of torque.

As with the entry-level model, the Kodiaq 140TDI model is all-wheel drive, and comes available with a dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard. Fuel use is claimed at 5.9 litres per 100 kilometres.

The petrol and diesel models in the 2018 Kodiaq range will see some tech enhancements as part of the new model-year range, including the standard fitment of the previously-optional 9.2-inch media system with satellite navigation, DAB+ digital radio and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring. The back seats will also be adorned with new adjustable head-rests as part of the “Sleep Pack”.

It’s expected the 140TDI will mirror the specification of the 132TSI, meaning standard goodies such as: city-speed autonomous emergency braking (AEB), passenger protect assist, driver fatigue monitor, tyre pressure monitor, fog lights with cornering function, electric child safety locks for the rear doors and multi-collision brake assistance.

It will also have adaptive cruise control, keyless entry with push-button start, adaptive LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, an automatic tailgate, sliding second row seats, rear sun blinds, folding side mirrors, an integrated LED torch in the luggage compartment, a three-net luggage set, and two umbrellas – one each in the driver and front passenger doors.

Skoda Australia says the new diesel model will arrive in dealerships “before Christmas” but that the order books are now open for those who want to pre-load Santa’s sleigh.
