2018 Kia Stinger pricing and specs

The 2018 Kia Stinger has finally arrived in Australian showrooms, and while twin-turbo V6 pricing is already known to be starting at $48,990, today’s news confirms the cheapest model in the range will be a $45,990 four-cylinder option.

In all, a six-strong model range will be offered, with three trim grades each for the two engine variants available – a 182kW/353Nm 2.0-litre turbo four, and a 272kW/510Nm 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6.

Both powerplants are mated as standard to an eight-speed automatic transmission, sending drive exclusively to the rear wheels.

The entry-level Stinger S comes in either ‘200’ or ‘330’ designations, depending on the engine chosen. As previously mentioned, the four-cylinder base model will start at $45,990, with the V6 version raising the price to $48,990 plus on-roads.

Standard equipment includes artificial leather seat trim with eight-way adjustment for the driver and six-way movement for the front passenger, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 18-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, and a 3.5-inch mono instrument display.

There’s also two 12V power outlets and two USB charging points in entry specification, along with LED daytime-running lights, Isofix child seat mounts on the two outward rear seats, a rear-view camera with dynamic guidelines, and hill start assist.

Stepping up to the Stinger Si (200: $52,990, 330: $55,990) adds a suite of driver assistance systems like autonomous emergency braking (AEB), forward collision warning, lane keep assist, driver attention alert, front parking sensors and rain-sensing wipers.

Other upgrades over the base car include 19-inch alloys for V6 versions with staggered 225/40R front and 255/35R rear tyres, adaptive cruise control, a luggage net, a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and an upgraded nine-speaker sound system with two subwoofers.

Finally, sitting atop the range are the GT-Line ($55,990, 200) and the GT ($59,990, 330). Extra equipment includes a 360-degree camera, blind spot detection, dynamic bending headlights, high-beam assist and a colour head-up display (HUD).

Other upgrades include electrochromic door mirrors, auto-levelling LED headlights, nappa leather trim, lumbar support, thigh extenders for the front seats, seat memory, D-shape steering wheel, wireless phone charging, and a larger 7.0-inch TFT LCD instrument display.

There’s also a powered tailgate, 15-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system, and the V6-powered GT gets a set of Brembo brakes and a limited-slip rear differential.

It’s been well documented that the 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 is capable of sprinting from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds, though Kia has now confirmed the 2.0-litre turbo four can sprint to triple figures in a still-respectable 6.0 seconds flat.

Both versions are fitted as standard with launch control, while all V6 models are fitted with Brembo ventilated disc brakes as standard (350mm front, 340mm rear) with four-piston calipers at the front and two-piston stoppers at the rear. Meanwhile, the 2.0-litre variants are fitted with 320mm front and 314mm rear ventilated discs, though they aren’t Brembo-branded.
