Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale celebrates its 50th birthday
The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale is now 50 years old, and to commemorate its half century, the Italian manufacturer is putting on a special exhibition for its iconic sports car.
First debuting on August 31, 1967, the 33 Stradale was designed by Franco Scaglione and was essentially a road-going version of the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 series of race cars.
Its racing roots are clearly seen in the design, too, with the low-slung and wide body with meaty rear haunches reminiscent of numerous racing cars of the time.
To celebrate the 33 Stradale’s 50th anniversary, Alfa Romeo is holding a special exhibition at the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo (Alfa Romeo Historic Museum) in Arese, Milan.
In addition to the prototype 33 Stradale (pictured), the Italian marque will show five of the six one-off concept cars that were based on the 33’s chassis, including the Carabo, Iguana, 33/2 Speciale, Cuneo and Navajo.
Racing fans will also enjoy the of the 33/2 Daytona, 33 TT12 and 33 SC12 race cars that will also be on display.
The 33 Stradale exhibition is open to visitors now.
