Renault Australia: Andrew Moore announced as Managing Director

Andrew Moore, only last week confirmed to be leaving his post at the top of Suzuki Australia’s automotive branch, has been announced today as Managing Director of Renault Australia.

Moore’s move to Renault follows the announcement earlier this month that Justin Hocevar had left the French car maker’s ranks, without explanation.

Hocevar has since released a statement reflecting positively on his time with Renault, but offering no further insight into the decision – or whose decision it was.

For Moore, the change of scenery comes after a decade with Suzuki, having joined the company as National Marketing Manager in 2007 before becoming General Manager (Automobiles) in 2014. His title changed to Director (Automobiles) in February this year.

Prior to his tour with Suzuki, Moore spent five years with Honda Australia in dealer development and sales operations.

“Securing Andrew to lead our Australian team is not only strategically important, it positions Renault for a strong future,” said Guillaume Sicard, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Renault in the Asia-Pacific Region.

“Andrew brings to our Australian operation the right mix of experience, skills and results that we know will help take Renault to its next level of performance in this important market.

“Andrew is a proven business and brand builder and we are very pleased to welcome him to the Renault family.”

Suzuki Australia’s year-to-date sales sat at 13,135 by the end of August (September figures still to come), compared to 13,166 for the same period in 2016.

The company has seen a number of new models come and old models go, in recent years, but a recent injection of new-generation models – with more to come – should see that number climb.

At Renault, Moore will inherit a smaller overall sales figure: 7270 registrations, year-to-date. Time will tell if he can improve on Hocevar’s work.
