Honda ‘baby NSX’ patent revealed as Gran Turismo video game racer

The Honda Sports Vision Gran Turismo has been leaked this week, looking very much like the ‘baby NSX’ patent renderings that surfaced a couple of years ago.

Posted by Carscoops, the images taken from the new Gran Turismo Sport video game – which launches October 17 – show the concept in the ‘car select’ menu, which wears the Sports Vision Gran Turismo name.

Interestingly, the new vehicle looks almost exactly like the patent renderings (above) first seen in 2015, which sparked rumours that the Japanese company was working on a mid-engined sports car to sit below its NSX hybrid performance flagship.

There’s no details as to what powers the sports car concept, though the interior would likely look like the patent drawings filed earlier this year (below), featuring a Formula 1-style steering wheel and a dash layout not dissimilar from the NSX.

Honda is yet to make an official announcement regarding the Sports Vision Gran Turismo, though fingers crossed it turns into a production model – just as Bugatti did when previewing the Chiron hypercar.

That in mind, at least we know now what the Japanese manufacturer was planning when it submitted those patent filings.
