2018 Hyundai Veloster spied undisguised

The next-generation Hyundai Veloster has been spied completely undisguised during a photography shoot.

While this latest set of photos of the new Veloster aren’t the clearest, they do give a good view of the second-generation of Hyundai’s asymmetrically-styled sporty hatchback.

As with the original Veloster, the new model features a just one long door on the driver’s side. On the opposite side there are two smaller doors, with handles for the rear door hidden.

Thanks to a blacked out A-pillar and roof, the new Veloster has adopted the in vogue floating roof motif.

This set of pictures confirms the next-generation Veloster will have a more sharply creased body than today’s car. Styling details, such as the grille, headlamps, and tail-light graphics, are more heavily influenced by the rest of the Hyundai range than is currently the case.

The red car seen here seem to be a Turbo variant, as it has two large centrally mounted exhaust tips. Globally, the Turbo model should sit in the middle of the new Veloster range, with a new N model becoming the new hero model.

In all likelihood, the Veloster N will share its drivetrain package with the i30 N. In standard trim, the i30 N has 184kW/353Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The Performance variant swells the power output to 202kW.

At launch, the i30 N is only available with a six-speed manual, although an eight-speed dual-clutch option is due to become available from 2019.
