Pagani has peeled back the curtain on its recently-announced Rinascimento program, giving the world a look at how it gives well-used Zondas a new lease on life.
The first Pagani model is, after all, getting a bit long in the tooth. It first rolled out of the factory in 1999, and some customers have covered more than 100,000km in their bespoke, hand-built Italian artworks.
Rather than leaving them to decay, or forcing owners to hand their priceless cars over to a third-party, the Rinascimento (renaissance) program instead allows them to ship their cars back to Pagani for a full restoration.
No stone is left unturned in the restoration process. Every part of the car is inspected and reworked, right down to the base nuts-and-bolts, to ensure a factory-fresh feeling. There’s no official word on how long the process takes, but it’s unlikely to be quick given the fastidious, detail-driven nature of the Zonda.
As the video (top) demonstrates, the restoration process is documented in great detail, allowing owners to certify the process and prove its authenticity, which is likely to come in handy when it comes time to sell.
Because it’s quite small, the restoration team at Pagani will only be able to handle one restoration at a time. A total of 137 cars have been delivered since 1999, but there’s no word on how many are signed up to the program, nor how much it will cost.
“To bring back the light and the original splendour of these masterpieces, is a pleasure as well as a great responsibility,” Company founder, Horacio Pagani, said of the program at its launch.
“Our customers rely on us because we are the only ones in the world capable of rebuilding and restoring Paganis as they came out of our Atelier. We want to give our customers the emotion to be thrilled as the first time.”
