Kia Australia has launched into full swing for this year’s Australian Open tennis tournament, detailing a set of tennis-themed special editions based on the Picanto, Rio, Sportage and Stinger.

First cab off the rank is the Picanto AO Edition, which features some sporty-looking extras, along with some Babolat tennis kit.

Priced at $16,777 drive-away (auto only) according to Kia’s website, the Picanto AO Edition is the first time we’ve seen the GT-Line body kit in Australia for the micro hatch, also adding 16-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime-running lights, ‘premium’ seats with red accents, and alloy sports pedals to the sole ‘S’ grade available locally.

Next is the Rio AO Edition, priced from $17,777 drive-away (auto only) as advertised on the Korean brand’s local website.

Based on the entry-level ‘S’ grade, the limited-edition Rio gets 17-inch alloy wheels, ‘premium’ steering wheel and shift knob, mirror-mounted side indicators, cruise control with steering wheel-mounted controls, and a Babolat tennis kit.

Third is the Sportage AO Edition, which is uniquely available in two guises: petrol and diesel.

Headlining features of the limited-run SUV include LED daytime-running lights, 18-inch alloys, satellite navigation, and active safety systems normally reserved for the flagship GT-Line – autonomous emergency braking (AEB), forward collision warning and lane-departure warning.

Pricing starts at $31,777 and $36,777 drive-away respectively for the 2.0-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel variants.

Finally, there’s the Stinger Rafa Signature Edition, celebrating Kia’s partnership with brand ambassador and men’s world number one, Rafael Nadal.

Features include an 8.0-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, exclusive side body decals in the colours of the Spanish flag with Rafael Nadal’s signature, a special brown interior, 19-inch alloy wheels, nine-speaker sound system and a Babolat tennis racquet signed by Rafa himself.

There’s also special badging inside and out, while the production run is limited to just 75 units.

Pricing for the Rafa Signature Edition Stinger starts at $47,990 before on-road costs. There’s no drive-away deal advertised for this model.

Cheers to Mel for the tip!
