Chevrolet FNR-X concept unveiled
The Chevrolet FNR-X concept car has been unveiled at the 2017 Shanghai motor show.
Designed as a successor to 2015 Chevrolet FNR concept, which looked like an escapee from a science fiction movie, the FNR-X is a rather more grounded-in-reality high-riding crossover.
It features a sharper interpretation of Chevrolet’s latest passenger car design theme, and its dynamic LED head- and tail-lights are said to feature styling derived from the mortise and tenon joint employed in traditional Chinese woodwork.
Access to the interior is a via a set of suicide doors that can be opened and closed remotely. The car’s interior includes OLED screens, a smart ambient lighting system, intelligent voice recognition, and customisable information displays.
The car’s seats have built-in storage areas and are mounted multi-purpose rails, and the cabin’s fabrics feature graphene-inspired hexagonal shapes. Also included is an augmented reality head-up display with 270-degree rear vision system.
Chevrolet says the FNR-X is powered by a plug-in hybrid drivetrain, although it hasn’t supplied any output, performance, range or design details about the supposed setup.
The FNR-X reportedly includes active aerodynamics, including automatically adjusting spoilers, wheel blades and grille shutters, to minimise drag at high speeds. There’s also height adjustable suspension and a “highly autonomous” driver assistance system.
