2018 Lexus CT200h facelift revealed

The 2018 Lexus CT200h hybrid hatchback has been unveiled, with the brand describing the changes to its now more aggressively styled compact model as a “sweeping update” that includes “sportier styling, interior updates and innovative equipment”.

The styling changes to the updated 2018 Lexus CT200h are clearly apparent, with a more muscular front end design including new mesh inlays for the spindle grille. High-grade models get “arrowhead” daytime running lights that now sit above the projector headlights.

There are new wheels, including 10-spoke, 16-inch wheels in a dark metallic paint finish on lower-grade versions, while the F Sport model gets new 17s. The rear end sees new LED tail-lights in an L shape, and a new lower rear bumper.

The F Sport version, which is “targeted [at] younger customers” sees further styling changes, including black exterior components – including black mesh-pattern spindle grille, fog lamp inserts and surrounds, and grille mouldings” to “reinforce the model’s sporty nature”. There are also black elements on the rear bumper, while F Sport models will have new two-tone exterior paint schemes and new colours.

Inside, the CT200h sees material changes, with the F Sport model getting two-tone interior trim, while all CTs are expected to brandish a new 10.3-inch media screen – up from the 7.0-inch screen in the existing model.

Every 2018 Lexus CT200h will have the brand’s Safety System+ tech pack, including pre-collision warning and autonomous braking, radar cruise control, lane departure warning with steering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights.

No changes are expected to the rest of the car, meaning the existing drivetrain – comprising a 1.8-litre four-cylinder (with 73kW/142Nm) petrol engine and 60kW electric motor – stays unchanged, with its 4.1L/100km fuel use rating also going unchanged.

Further, no suspension or steering changes are expected.

The updated CT200h range will be on sale from the fourth quarter of this year in Australia.
