The Gosford Classic Car Museum will be teaming up with Pickles Auctions to hold its first public car auction on October 28.

Up to 70 classic cars will be auctioned at the fully-catered event, with prices ranging from $50,000 to $2.5 million.

One of the cars that will be going under the hammer is an all-original 1970 Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III (above) developed for racing at Bathurst. It was stored in a shed under a blanket since 1982, and with only 112,000 kilometres on the odometer, it’s expected to fetch $500,000.

Another barn find to be auctioned off is an Australian-delivered 1966 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage. The last owner has kept it since 1970, and it shows some patina with just 96,500km on the clock.

Other highlights include icons like the Holden Monaro HG 350, Porsche 959 (bottom), Ferrari Testarossa, Lamborghini Miura (top), Mazda Cosmo and Jaguar XJR-15.

A 1990 Formula Vee once raced by Luke Spalding, who recently passed away from cancer, will also be auctioned. All proceeds will go to NSW Kids in Need, an organisation that supports six children’s charities in the state.

The Gosford Classic Car Museum has the biggest collection in the Southern Hemisphere and has only been opened to the public since 2016. Founder and Owner, Tony Denny, is looking forward to the museum’s inaugural auction.

“We’re thrilled to open our doors to the world for one night only, in what is one of Australia’s largest car auctions this year,” he said.

“Selling off 70 of our classic cars is no easy feat; however, it is essential we make room for the exciting new collections that we have waiting in the wings. We can’t wait to see familiar and new faces on auction night.”

The auction is expecting up to 1500 guests, and will feature an appearance by Australian Formula 1 driver, Daniel Ricciardo.

“We are excited to collaborate with Gosford Classic Car Museum to bring to life Australia’s most iconic classic car auction to date,” said Steve Allen, national manager of prestige vehicles at Pickles Auctions.

“With the amount of quality and exotic collections going under the hammer, we foresee it being a great event.”

Tickets are on sale now for $25, with VIP options available.
