Audi Q2 2.0 TFSI arrives from $48,500

The Audi Q2 range has been bolstered by the addition of a performance-oriented 2.0 TFSI Sport variant, which kicks off at $48,500 before on-road costs.

Serving as the petrol flagship, the Q2 2.0 TFSI features a 140kW/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo petrol, mated as standard to a dual-clutch transmission and Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system.

With the extra pep, the little SUV can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 6.5 seconds, which is in the same ballpark as established hot hatches like the Volkswagen Golf GTI.

Despite its performance potential, the Q2 2.0 TFSI has a claimed fuel consumption rating of 6.5L/100km.

Standard equipment largely mirrors that of the diesel 2.0 TDI Sport quattro ($49,100). That means you get LED headlights with dynamic rear indicators, MMI navigation, bluetooth phone and audio streaming, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear-view camera, 18-inch alloy wheels, an electric tailgate, dual-zone climate control, leather-appointed sports seats and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. There’s also autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection (up to 65km/h).

However, to get tech like adaptive cruise control with stop&go, high-speed AEB (up to 200km/h), blind spot assist, highbeam assist and park assist, you’ll need to shell out an extra $990 for the optional Assistance Package.

Other options include Audi’s 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit digital instruments, LED interior lighting packages, various alloy wheel designs, and exterior colours.
