Citroen six-year warranty discontinued
Citroen’s local division has canned its six-year warranty program, reverting to the previous three-year factory warranty. The decision comes after local representation of the French brand shifted from Sime Darby to Inchcape earlier this year.
Speaking with CarAdvice this week, Jemma White, corporate communications manager for Citroen Australia, said the six-year program was merely a promotional offer.
“The Citroen three-year manufacturer warranty plus three-year extension included into the price for Citroën was a marketing activation and has now concluded,” she said.
“We are constantly reviewing warranty, currently the Citroën warranty is three-years manufacturer with an option to buy an extension from the dealer.”
Despite being labelled as a ‘marketing activation’, the French brand’s six-year warranty was first introduced back in 2014. It covered the passenger car range only, with the Berlingo commercial van not included.
The program also included six years of roadside assistance, largely unmatched by any manufacturer locally other than Korea’s Kia, which continues to offer a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.
