The next-generation Porsche 911 Turbo has been spied testing in chilly northern Europe.
Unlike the last 911 prototype we saw, a cabrio spied at the beginning of the month, this Turbo variant features much wider rear guards with a large air intake on forward-facing side.
The wheel arch extensions used on this car seem to be a engineering mock up, and not the final product. There are also false panels around the air intake disguising the unit’s final design and shape.
At the front, the new 911 Turbo features a slightly different bumper design compared to its less powerful siblings. The most noticeable change is the use of two lighting strips on each side for the driving light and indicator units.
Out the back, the Turbo features the now-customary fixed rear wing, as well as four squared-off exhaust tips. As with other models in the upcoming 911 range, the Turbo features a thin strip of LED tail-lights that stretch all the way across the rear of the car.
Power is, once again, expected to come courtesy of a turbocharged six-cylinder boxer engine.
While the exterior is a cautious evolution of today’s car, spy photos taken last year show the new 911 range will feature a radically redesigned interior.
Inspired by the latest Panamera, the 911’s new cabin cuts down on button clutter, and shifts many of the car’s controls to the touchscreen infotainment system.
